Wearable sensors: The power behind movement analysis
By leveraging advanced IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) wearable sensors, we capture detailed and precise information about movement.
This wearable sensor technology offers a level of accuracy and insight that surpasses conventional methods, including markerless motion capture systems.
How wearable IMU sensors register motion:
Tracking movement Through space
IMU sensors are at the heart of our system, measuring motion with a high degree of accuracy. When mounted to the body, they register how body parts move through space over time, allowing detailed tracking of movement. This precise data allows us to go deeper, uncovering not just the what of movement but the how and why.
Measuring orientation Going beyond angles
From the orientations of rigid body parts (such as thighs and calves), the rotations of joints are calculated to show how movement patterns emerge. The detailed tracking by sensors even allows insights in internal joint translation – a crucial part in assessment of joint stability.
Turning data into meaningful insights
Our wearable sensor system ensures that every piece of data contributes to a clearer picture of how the body performs and adapts—whether during a run, a pitching session, or a rehabilitation program.
The true power of our system lies in how we process and analyze the data collected by these sensors. By combining information from multiple sensors, we can map the interactions between different parts of the body. This synergy-focused approach reveals the underlying coordination patterns that drive movement.
This allows us to:
Why we chose to use wearable sensors
Since 2015, while working with athletes and consulting movement professionals, we realized that existing motion capture systems didn’t meet our standards for accuracy or provide actionable data. Frustrated by the limitations of traditional tools, we developed our own movement solutions—designed to deliver the level of precision and reliability we demand for those we train and care for.
